ISABELLA GARAFFA
Isabella Garaffa’s latest works, It’s Fun to Get Lost; Snowmass Ski Area and Dressed in Snow, capture the raw, unfiltered essence of winter through the lens of adventure, freedom, and the beauty of nature. These pieces are the newest additions to her 2024/25 winter collection, and as with her past works, they promise to move swiftly from the gallery walls to the homes of collectors.
In It’s Fun to Get Lost; Snowmass Ski Area (60 x 72 in., acrylic on canvas), Garaffa explores the liberating experience of skiing without a destination. “Where should we go?” she asked her husband on a chairlift, to which he responded, “I don’t know, babe, how about we just get lost?” It’s a question that embodies the spirit of skiing for many: the joy of freedom, the thrill of the unknown, and the peace of knowing that the only limit is the mountain. Garaffa's painting brings this sense of unencumbered adventure to life, inviting the viewer into the vast, snowy expanse. Her dynamic brushstrokes and vivid use of color create an immersive environment, allowing you to hear the quiet whoosh of skis on fresh powder, feel the crisp air on your face, and relive those moments of carefree joy we so often experience on the slopes.
Isabella’s work has a way of captivating the viewer and sparking an immediate connection.
PLEASE BE AWARE....Artwork like this is extremely rare, this painting won’t last long in the gallery—her works have been flying off the walls, often selling within hours. Isabella has consistently broken gallery records, with multiple pieces selling in a single day, and some even before they could be officially released. Her ability to capture the essence of nature and translate it into art has made her one of the most sought-after artists in Aspen.

You know those days, where you have no plans, no agenda, no where to go after and nowhere to be later? And you go skiing. “Where should we go?” I asked my husband while on the chairlift. “I don’t know babe, how about we just get lost”. Done! Skiing is one of those few sports that allows you to do that (as long as you stay inside the boundary lines) . The only thing you have to worry about is what time is the last chair ride. I think is that feeling of freedom, it’s like you get to be a child again playing in the snow. If you know what I mean, I don’t need to say more. But I can paint it 😉"
ISABELLA GARAFFA
In the Dressed in Snow diptych (50 x 40 in., acrylic on canvas), Garaffa’s boundless energy and adventurous spirit are evident. The paintings are born from an unforgettable experience: after an overnight snowfall of two feet, she set out on a favorite trail to capture the winter landscape, forgetting to bring snowshoes. Undeterred, she climbed 1200 feet in her “winter” running shoes, a journey that took her nearly four hours through deep, heavy snow. As she reflects on the moment, Garaffa recognizes the divine design in her body’s strength and the resilience of the human spirit. The paintings that emerged from this experience radiate a raw, ethereal energy—like the land itself is dressed in a blanket of snow, inviting us to walk alongside her. This piece is a testament to her belief that every experience, no matter how challenging, is part of a greater, divine design.
Garaffa’s style is unique in its ability to be both detailed and suggestive. She provides just enough of the scene to spark the viewer’s imagination, offering a deeply personal connection to the landscape. Through her work, the viewer is encouraged not only to look at the mountain, the gondola, or the snow but to experience them—through their senses, memories, and emotions. Her art beckons us to participate in the environment, to feel the exhilaration of the slopes, the quiet beauty of untouched snow, and the calm after a storm.
Isabella’s style is both detailed and suggestive, offering just enough for the viewer to fill in the rest with their own imagination. In her work, the mountain, the gondola, the sky—they all become a stage for your own senses and memories to take flight. What is the crisp mountain air like? Can you hear the sound of skis gliding on snow? The subtle suggestion of the scene invites you to experience it for yourself, to step into the landscape as an active participant rather than a passive observer.
Isabella Garaffa’s approach to art is rooted in a deep love for nature, especially the wilderness that surrounds her home in Snowmass Village. Her unique perspective, influenced by her upbringing in Paraguay and her years in the mountains, imbues each piece with a sense of nostalgia and reverence for the environment. Through her work, Isabella invites us to see the world with fresh eyes, finding beauty in both the grand and the subtle moments that make life extraordinary.
“Dressed In Snow” diptych 48 x 40
“Dressed In Snow” diptych 50 x 40, acrylics on canvas. . .
The photos I took on this day (that inspired this painting) were the results of my crazy adventurous spirit. We got like 2 ft of snow overnight, and I woke up the next morning to go to my favorite trail to take pictures. I forgot to bring my snowshoes with me, so I decided to to tread through the heavy snow climbing a total of 1200 ft, on my “winter” running shoes. This is the place where I go for runs in the wintertime, a 5 mile loop that usually takes me 1:20 mins (depending on the conditions). But this day, the snow was so heavy and so deep it took me almost 4 hrs. But it was worth it! I cannot help but think how perfect is God’s design in everything. If it wasn’t for the strong muscular legs He gave me from the time I was born, I don’t think I would have the strength to do the crazy things I do. Growing up I used to hate my legs, I just wanted to be like those skinny girls I saw in the magazines. Phf! God knew better 😉.

“When the Road is Closed Go Snowmobiling” 60x60
“When the Road is Closed Go Snowmobiling” 60x 60 in. acrylics on canvas
" I took the original photo for this painting back in 2019, with an old iPhone 11.1 only had one shot of the view. But as I was scrolling through my photo album choosing my next painting, when I came across this I knew right away I had to paint it. I had to. So here it is.
You know what is one of my favorite things when I go out there to explore? Seeing the sign that lets me know I'm in a national forest area. It gives me comfort knowing that all the beauty I'm about to see will be protected for ages to come, and no human development will destroy it. That's a wonderful thing. Leave it the way you found it, right? I think this painting it's an expression of gratitude from my heart for all the forest rangers that take care of all these enchanted areas that we so profoundly cherish. And as always, this is an expression of absolute amazement at the immense creativity of the Creator of us all.
Cheers!"
"Tom Blake Trail; October Snowstorm" 72 x 60 in. acrylics on canvas
"I woke up that Monday morning in winter wonderland. I love these end of October snowstorms we get every year. They are mixed with leftovers; from seasons past and the new season coming. I went knee deep onto a hike to capture the beauty of that day so I could paint it, and when I came across this scene I knew this was it. I was so happy in that place. And all I hope is that when you look at it, you can feel the bliss of that moment with me!"
