Alea Pinar Du Pre's "Aspen CowGirl Series"  is a striking trio of works from her innovative Optical Collection, showcased in her recent solo exhibition, "Parallel Dimensions," at the Aspen Art Gallery. This work invites viewers into a reimagined landscape, where the Wild West merges with an alternate reality—a Colorado that seamlessly connects to the Pacific Ocean.

"There is another wild west on Parallel Earth, in which Colorado is connected to the Pacific ocean. The water and air is totally clear. The light is very bright and the contrast of light and shadow are slightly different than on our world. People living there a mesmerizingly beautiful. Show me a woman in her 20s, wild hair, candid pose, she is wearing a cowboy outfit, there is a slight breeze in the air. "

In "Aspen CowGirl Series" part of her innovative Optical Collection, Alea Pinar Du Pre transports us to a reimagined landscape—a wild west on a Parallel Earth where Colorado embraces the Pacific Ocean. Here, the air and water are crystalline, and the interplay of light and shadow reveals a new dimension of beauty. The captivating figure at the center of this work—a woman with wild hair in a cowboy outfit—embodies the spirit of this alternate reality, inviting viewers to explore the nuances of freedom and identity within this surreal setting.

Du Pre’s unique technique, blending the latest technology with hundreds of hours of meticulous handcrafting, creates a rich tapestry of textures that elicit a holographic effect. Her process began with the playful use of cupcake pipes, which evolved into the delicate application of acrylics through small squeezy tubes. This evolution reflects her commitment to experimentation, as she continually seeks new ways to bridge classical techniques with contemporary practices.

In this parallel world, clarity reigns supreme; the water and air are impeccably pristine, and the light holds a distinct vibrancy that enhances the contrast of light and shadow in ways unseen in our own dimension. The central figure—a woman in her twenties with wild, flowing hair—embodies the spirit of this alternate reality. Clad in a cowboy outfit and captured in a candid pose, she stands poised in a gentle breeze, epitomizing both strength and beauty.

Born in Vienna in 1972 to Austrian and Turkish roots, Du Pre’s work is deeply influenced by her rich cultural heritage and the artistic movements of the Künstlerhaus and Wiener Werkstätte. A self-taught artist, her journey began at an early age, leading to a prolific career that spans various styles and mediums, from cubistic representations of Istanbul’s streets to her current explorations of the intersections between digital art and reality.

"Optical art, also known as Op Art, is a style of art that uses geometric shapes, lines, and color to create optical illusions that can create a sense of movement or depth. Figurative painting, my strong-hold, on the other hand, refers to - well - figures :-)

A few months ago, I started playing around and incorporate Op Art elements such as bold lines and geometric patterns into my figurative works. By doing so, my portraiture gained a dynamic visual effect that draws the viewer's eye and adds depth and a sense of ambiguity and playfulness."
