A Blooming Reverie: Isabelle Dupuy's 2025 Water Lily Paintings at the Aspen Art Gallery

Spring in Aspen isn’t just a season—it’s a feeling. This year, that feeling is magnified with the arrival of Isabelle Dupuy’s latest collection of Water Lily paintings at the Aspen Art Gallery.

Known for her textured, impasto landscapes and emotive color work, Dupuy once again invites us into her dreamlike world—where nature blooms eternal and every brushstroke hums with life.

A Contemporary Impressionist with a Signature Touch

Dupuy’s work draws inspiration from the French Impressionists—Monet in particular—but she reimagines the genre through a bold, tactile lens. In her new series, water lilies float across shimmering ponds, but these are not passive, decorative flowers. They emerge from the canvas with dimensionality and energy, sculpted with palette knives and thick layers of oil paint that catch the light and shadow with dramatic flair.

The result is immersive. Standing before one of her canvases, the viewer doesn’t just observe nature—they enter it. Dupuy’s lilies seem to sway as if stirred by an unseen breeze, and her water reflects the mood of each piece—sometimes tranquil, sometimes mysterious, often radiant.

Nature as Meditation

There’s a meditative rhythm to this new body of work. Each painting is a moment suspended in time, offering serenity in a world often spinning too fast.

Whether rendered in soft purples and misty blues or deep greens and golds, Dupuy’s palette feels both spontaneous and intentional—a conversation between chaos and calm.

Around the edges of her canvas, paint cascades over the sides in beautiful strokes; capturing the reflective of the movement of water. Ripples echo across a pond.

Final Thoughts

Isabelle Dupuy’s Water Lily collection is more than a tribute to nature—it is an invitation to slow down, to look closer, and to feel more deeply.  Dupuy's 2025 Water Lily Collection is on display now at Aspen Art Gallery.
