Isabella Garaffa was born in Asuncion, Paraguay,   She now lives and creates her artwork in Snowmass Village, where she has been residing for the last many years.  Her most treasured childhood memories are directly connected to her strong passion for the wilderness, which is translated throughout her artwork in very intense detail. Seeing Aspen trees for the first time at the age of twenty two, gave her a fresh approach to recreate them in her studio in later years.

Decades in the making, ISABELLA has definitely found her calling. This local, self taught superstar pays homage to our surroundings like no other. Her  expressions of Aspen’s Winter are highly sort after. Check out the latest offerings HERE

"Portal to the Light; where eagles play with the Bells”. 60x72

 acrylics on canvas

"This painting started one crazy afternoon where I decided to run 12 miles in the snow , on this path, so I could capture this moment forever. When the goal is bigger, you ignore the pain. The Maroon Bells have been painted more than thousands of times, but been able to see it through many different angles as I was traveling on this road by foot, I realized I wanted to capture a different moment. Which is the one I love the most whenever I travel on maroon creek road to get to the Bells; that moment when the mountains start to appear in the horizon line, changing subtlety from viewing pyramid peak to suddenly seeing the Maroon Bells. It feels like they start to impose their beauty on you little by little, because is too much splendor to see it all at once. And is this moment of anticipation, the one I wanted to capture. You are not there yet, but you are also far away from where you started. You know you still have more miles to go, but the beauty in front of you keeps you excited and you going forward. The eagles above are playing in the air, or maybe fighting for food?? Who knows. But you can only be envious of them, how freely they fly as they wish and surround the mountains high above without any effort. As your sweat reminds you are still made of flesh and bones. But maybe they are there to keep you company in the journey, maybe they are watching over you and saying “don’t quit, you are almost there!”. Life is just like that many times. And how easily we forget that if we would just put our gaze on the beauty of Gods presence, He will get us there to see His glory. The Maroon Bells, another signature of His."
