- “I have Always Kind of Felt Freedom because i have always just wanted to be myself” DAVID DREBIN -

The New York based multidisciplinary artist
is best known for his cinematic, narrative
style featuring femme fatales in imaginative,
dramatic settings, as well as dreamlike
landscapes and cityscapes that capture our
yearning for faraway places, or mysterious,
unexpected encounters. Drebin uses
distinctive lighting techniques to capture
alluring, magical moments, creating images
that are both classic and contemporary.
Light, space, and subject are always
masterfully composed in Drebin's images,
whether they are spontaneous or
meticulously planned.

IA graduate of Parsons School of Design in NYC, David Drebin is a multidisciplinary artist working in various art forms producing limited edition works including Photographs, Lightboxes, Neon Light Installations, Diamond Dust works and more.

Following his first solo exhibition at Camera Work in Berlin in 2005 and the release of his first comprehensive illustrated book “Love and Other Stories” in 2007, Drebin experienced a stream of representation by some of the most prestigious galleries around the globe.

Drebin's artworks also known as “Drebins” are unique and instantly recognizable as his own. His artistic style is often described as epic, dramatic and, above all, cinematic. Drebin has released eight books with teNeues publishing including "The Morning After", "Beautiful Disasters", "Chasing Paradise", "Dreamscapes", "Love and Lights", "Before They Were Famous", "Collectors Edition" an oversized limited edition monograph and the most recently released "Flirting With Danger". “INTRODUCING THE NEW “DIAMOND DUST COLLECTION”. Diamond Dust is a glittering material that is applied to paper and ink in the printing process, establishing a textured, elaborate and radiant finish. Diamond Dust captures light alluringly and draws attention to the colors of the work, as well as enhancing the value and beauty of the prints. The new DD “Diamond Dust” collection is here in a limited edition available through select galleries worldwide.`

"I have a relationship with the truth as the truth is my guide and I can’t stand fakes, frauds and all phony people and I can see them all a mile away. I love fun, funny straightforward people who are not tricky. You want tricky I can give you tricky (madness) you want fun I can give you FUN ( magic) it’s up to you I only reflect the energy you give off as your energy introduces you before you speak."

"I always knew I wanted to be a creative person and forge my own path. How about you?

I was terrible in school especially university (what a waste of time that was studying liberal arts pursuing a meaningless degree) as I fell asleep literally in every class I was so bored.

It took me awhile to figure out that my goal was to work for my own dreams and to eventually inspire others to work for theirs.

First I went to acting school at “The American Academy of Dramatic Arts” in New York City where I was the worst actor in my class. I couldn’t follow someone else script. I knew I had to write my own.

Then I enrolled in “Parsons School of Design in NYC” when I realized which side of the camera I preferred to be on. I was accepted into the photography program in the mid 90’s and found the most amazing mentor Michelle Borge.

Michelle was fair but firm. She had a vision for me before I had a vision for myself. She was right. She was always right. Fuck I hated that.

She told me I was good but not that good. The perfect motivator!

I always wanted to prove myself to her. She was the chairperson and head of the photography department at Parson and ended up writing the intro to my first book “Love And Other Stories”.

All these years later, I like to share my Limited Edition Artworks that have come from my own imagination and have been collected all over the world and also to share my thoughts on struggle, patience, perseverance, non stop hustle and dedication to my craft and hopefully to inspire others to find a passion, pursue their passion and believe in themselves.

I use my work as a platform to share my voice with others who have big dreams and the plans to match those dreams.

First comes WHY and then comes HOW.

The two most important days of our lives are the day we were born and the day we figure out why.

Find a passion.
Pursue your passion.
Believe in yourself"

" In a cinematographic manner, David Drebin creates a dream world that, thanks to his hyper-realistic style, at the same time seems so lifelike that as a viewer you feel like part of the scenery. Perhaps it is this twist that makes his artworks so suspenseful, or perhaps it is the way he skilfully stages his protagonists. Each of his pictures leaves the impression of its own dramaturgy, which only stimulates the mental cinema. What will happen next? What happened before?⁣"
